The phrase was used regarding the Iran–Contra scandal by Representative Louis Stokes during a 1987 session of Congress, maintaining Oliver North chose to play a "fall guy" by remaining steadfast and loyal during the hearings to those he had worked for to protect them. Throw under the bus · Collateral damage · Bagholder – Slang for shareholder left holding worthless stocks · Sacrificial lamb – Person sacrificed for the common good · Scapegoating – Practice of singling out any party for unmerited negative treatment or blame · Setting up to fail – Form of workplace bullying and no-win situation ·The term "fall guy" for one whom blame was directed upon in order to shield others had appeared in mass public culture in the U.S. at least by the 1920s. In 1925 it was the title of a Broadway play, The Fall Guy, by James Gleason and George Abbott, starring future Hollywood character actors Ernest Truex and Dorothy Patterson.A related use of "fall guy" was for one to be left "holding the bag", meaning to be abandoned to be caught and implicated in a crime, particularly holding stolen goods, either by design or circumstance. This in turn led to the term bagholder, the victim of a fraudulent investment scheme.A paper on "Isolationism is not dead" quotes an anonymous editorial from a paper in the Pacific Northwest on the topic of the Bretton Woods financial accord and the Food Conferences in which the United States was depicted as the "fall guy, the one to carry the load".In a 1960 paper called the "Politics of Pollution", Robert Bullard wrote public officials seeking to deflect criticism over landfills found a "fall guy" in the form of the faceless figures in "the federal government, state governments and private disposal companies".

Reviewers say 'The Fall Guy' is lauded for its thrilling stunts and the portrayal of stunt work's skill and danger. The film blends action, comedy, and romance effectively, with standout performances from Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. Their chemistry is a highlight, along with the movie's self-aware humor and Hollywood references. The Fall Guy is a movie about making a movie. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays an action star who's stuntman is played by Ryan Gosling... who has a real stuntman doing his stunts. The Fall Guy is filled with this type of third-degree meta-ness. I found it amusing. The intro to the early screening called it a love letter to stuntmen. The movie showcases so many beautiful stunts. It truly is a celebration of that profession. This is also heavily a love story. I normally don't go for that, but this one hit me in all the right ways. I felt all of the emotions they wanted me to feel. I think most people will enjoy The Fall Guy.Whatever problems The Fall Guy has really aren't an issue when the final product is this much fun. It's a loving tribute to the never ending selflessness of stunt people wrapped inside of an endearing romantic comedy and meta action film. If David Leitch and 87 North did all the action in cinema the world would be a better place.

When commerce masquerades as culture, South Africa’s art fairs reveal their obsolescence. bART Man-G © Adilson De Oliveira There is something tragically comic about watching a man believe his dreams long after they’ve curdled. Willy Loman, Arthur Miller’s haunted salesman, did not simply die because he was irrelevant. This is not failure by accident. It is failure by design. Our art schools are starved, intellectually hollow. Our critics have either defected to the market or evaporated entirely. Our museums are rot wearing architecture. Our curators are careerists.FNB Art Joburg, and all these subsequent fairs, aren’t failing because they’re bad. They’re failing because they are unnecessary. They are the Loman of the continent — nostalgic for relevance, blind to their own obsolescence. The tragedy is not that they are dying.

Since Challenge Accepted appeared first, this would make him the first, and since Challenge Failed is a Counterpart as well, then therefore, he is a counterpart.Challenge Failed's inspiration, the original Challenge Accepted meme. For one thing, since Challenge Considered wasn't popular as the original meme, a new meme by the name of Challenge Denied began to upload on All the Rage Faces.com by October 30th, 2011.
